Recently, Deputy of the 11th CPPCC National Committee and Deputy Director of the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) Li Yuguang said in an interview that China should attach importance to the intellectual property rights of SMEs.
"It is an urgent need for China to develop from a manufacturing country into an innovation-oriented country. However, SMEs are confronted with serious IPR problems in the process of independent innovation, and few SMEs possess independent intellectual property rights." said Li Yuguang.
Li believes that, in the formulation and implementation of the national IPR strategy, the government should treat the IP strategy of SMEs as an important component and fully implement the IPR development strategy in SMEs.
Li Yuguang proposed to adopt financial support measures. In addition, the relevant government departments should take the initiative to conduct special IPR training for SMEs and enhance the IPR protection and management level of SMEs. [Chinese version is available on SIPO.gov.cn]
