India has signed the Riyadh Design Law Treaty (DLT) to strengthen its intellectual property ecosystem and promote inclusive growth. The treaty promotes innovation and creativity, especially among SMEs, startups, and independent designers.
The treaty, adopted after almost two decades of negotiations under WIPO, aims to harmonize industrial design protection processes globally. This will make it easier, faster, and more affordable for designers to protect their work internationally.
The DLT introduces a standardized framework for design registration, reducing complexity and administrative burdens for applicants.
