Taking advantage of the Assemblies of the Member States of WIPO, INAPI Chile, and the EPO have signed a Reinforced Partnership Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for 5 years.
The EPO establishes bilateral cooperation partnerships with non-member states of the EPC (technical cooperation, reinforced cooperation, and validation) to make the global patent system more efficient and better suited to user needs.
This agreement entails:
- An agreement on a new PPH (Patent Prosecution Highway) between INAPI and the EPO (also IMPI Mexico, Indecopi Peru, INPI Brazil, SIC Colombia have a PPH Agreement in force with the EPO). PPH allows an applicant to request accelerated patent prosecution at the EPO where a corresponding application has already been found to contain patentable/allowable claims at a PPH partner office, in this case in Chile (INAPI).
- Further strengthens the cooperation ties between the two Offices that fulfill the role of ISA/IPEA of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT)
