The total revenue of Beijing’s Zhongguancun Science Park, an engine of innovation and entrepreneurship, is expected to reach four trillion yuan ($608 biilion), an annual growth of 13 percent, BTV morning news reported on January 21.
Revenue doubled during the 12th Five Year Plan (2010-15), and relies on a sustainable growth model of innovative-driven development.
The Zhongguancun-based Inspur division has just launched a cloud computing service and has co-built China’s largest cloud ecosystem with other enterprises. It is grasping independent software and hardware techniques in seven sectors, including servers and storage.
Peng Zhen, vice president of Inspur Group, said that the enterprise could develop its unique cloud computing based on open-source platforms, which brings about more “independent copyrights”.
Cloud computing is just a miniature. Over the past five years, enterprises in the park poured money into technical centers and test sites with an average growth rate of more than 30 percent.
In 2014, competitive industrial clusters --- including the Next-Generation Internet technology and integrated circuit --- received a gross revenue of 2.66 trillion yuan ($ 404 billion) , accounting for 73.8 percent of the whole park.
“My company is moving from an equipment manufacturer to cloud platforms,” said Wang Xiaolan, president of Time Group. “It is heading for Industry 4.0. All these are based on innovation.”
China has its own interpretation of the German-initiated Industry 4.0 concept: the Internet Plus strategy.
Jia Xiaoping is the head of the Glodon Software Company. He said that his company has been pursuing innovation in various forms and is building an Internet-based construction industry with the concept of Internet Plus.
“This is how we use innovation and techniques to support our industry.” Jia said.
