Hu Jintao paid his visit to the southern city after attending celebrations for the 10th anniversary of Macao's return to China.
He visited a privately owned software company, and was pleased to learn that business was better than last year. The President stressed the importance of technological innovation.
President Hu Jintao said, "Nowadays, the competition in information technology is extremely fierce. I hope you, as a software company, will treasure technological innovation as your life. You need to own intellectual property rights for your products. I hope you will be pioneers in the development of our country's software industry."
President Hu then went to a state owned air conditioner plant. He previously visited the site 15 years ago. The Gree Company has since developed into one of the world's biggest air conditioner manufacturers. Hu Jintao again emphasized innovation when visiting the firm's technological research department.
President Hu Jintao said, "Only when an enterprise is innovative, can it be undefeated in market competition. I hope you will make more contributions to the change from Chinese-made products, to Chinese-created products."
Innovative ideas are important. The ability to turn them into reality is equally necessary.
