Measures taken to stimulate patent applications

Chongqing plans to receive over 4,000 invention patent applications annually and have 3.8 invention patent applications per 10,000 population by the end of 2015.

To ensure this goal, Chongqing Municipal Intellectual Property Office recently issued a guidance of incentive measures to promote patent applications.　　 The guidance required the funding for corporate applications, PCT applications, foreign applications, granted patents and invention patents maintaining for more than three years should not exceed the actual cost.

The subsidy for corporate invention patent applications, utility models, designs and PCT applications should not exceed 1,000 yuan per piece, 150 yuan per piece, 150 yuan per piece and 2,000 yuan per piece respectively.　 After a domestic invention patent is granted, no more than 1,000 yuan will be given to its applicant as a reward, if any agency is not employed; while, if yes, then the reward will be no more than 5,000 yuan per piece. In addition, if any domestic invention patent right could maintain for over three years, then a no more than 3,000 yuan worth of one-time reward will be rendered.

Submitted under PCT and granted in the United States, Britain, Germany, Italy, Japan, France and Switzerland, a patent application will get no more than 20,000 yuan worth of reward. If it is granted in other countries, then the applicant will be awarded with no more than 10,000 yuan for each patent.

Generally, individuals will be awarded for their non-service patent applications just one time. [Chinese version is available on cqnews.net]
