In 2008, China achieved significant results in the national anti-piracy campaign, confiscating over 76 million pirated publications and investigating 12,490 piracy cases.
Among the seized publications, there were 56.79 million pirated audio-visual products, 13.09 million pirated books, 3.35 million fake teaching materials and pirated software and 2.82 million pirated electronic publications.
The General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP) and National Copyright Administration (NCA) strengthened copyright protection for the audio-visual products related to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, intensified supervision on network broadcast and investigated 117 websites suspected of infringement, which was highly appraised by the International Olympic Committee and known as the "highest level of international anti-piracy work".
