BHG Provoked Disputes Because of Selling Toys Related to Cartoon Boonie Bears

The Beijing Hualian Group (BHG), a leading Chinese retailer headquartered in Beijing, was sued by Shenzhen Mengshiqi Trading Co.,Ltd. (Shenzhen Mengshiqi) for undermining their legitimate rights by selling plush toys in images of Briar, Bramble and Logger Vick, the characters in a well-known cartoon Boonie Bears. Shenzhen Mengshiqi requested the court to order BHG to stop infringement immediately, apology for the behavior and compensate the economic losses of over 600,000 yuan. Recently, this case was accepted by the Beijing Haidian District People’s Court.
