Copyright fight fired between MCSC and Baidu

“We will officially declare war against Baidu,” said Qu Jingming, Director-General of the Music Copyright Society of China (MCSC) yesterday.

The MCSC had filed a lawsuit, claiming that Baidu must stop infringement immediately and compensate for the copyright usage fee of 50 songs totaling one million yuan.

Meanwhile, the copyright agency of the infringed music had sent out the sample attorney opinion letter as well, asking Baidu to cut off the links of those infringed music.

As the opposite party, Baidu expressed that they had already known the incident and paid great attention to it.

Baidu asserted, they have placed great importance on IPR protection in Internet field and formulate measures and steps to safeguard the legal rights and interests of IP right holders.

Apart from that, they have been exploring new types of commercial model to tackle copyright disputes, such as disc promotion and advertisement. [Chinese version is available on Guangzhou Daily]
