Jail and fade to black for once-popular pirate portal

The Haidian district court in Beijing handed down stiff penalties last week to seven men convicted of illegally offering movies and TV downloads for profit.

Considered China's largest online copyright infringement case, local authorities said the scale of the piracy and dissemination was "unprecedented".

Zhou Zhiquan, president of Beijing Xintian Yinping Technology Co that operated the website siluhd.com, was sentenced five years in jail and fined 1 million yuan ($160,200).
