Criminal sentenced to imprisonment for selling counterfeit shampoos

On 28 May, the Xihu District People's Court in Nancang of Jiangxi Province convicted Xu Jin, who sold counterfeit shampoos in Nancang, of the crime of selling commodities bearing counterfeit trademark representations and sentenced him to a three-year imprisonment with a fine.

From April 2007, Xu Jin sold 1,858 cases of shampoos and bath lotions, which bore counterfeit trademark representations of Rejoice, Pantene, Olay, Lux, etc., to nine distributors in Hongcheng Market in Nanchang. Xu Jin obtained an amount of RMB 152,941 from the illegal sales. On 3 December 2007, the Qingyunpu District Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision sealed up a large number of counterfeit shampoos and bath lotions in Xu's storehouse, which valued RMB 248,826.

The court held that, since Xu Jin knowingly sold the counterfeit commodities that involved a value of RMB 401,767, he committed the crime of selling commodities bearing counterfeit trademark representations. Therefore, the court imposed the above sentence upon Xu Jin.
