The State Intellectual Property Office released a series of online service tools last week to help users.
Among them is the first app SIPO has launched, named the "Patent Butler", and a related website tailor-made for smartphone users.
The move is to explore a new mode combining the internet and administrative services, said Zheng Huifen, an official in charge of patent examination with SIPO.
Based on an existing patent service system run by SIPO, the new mobile program provides access to application priority data.
Users can also apply for priority in processing their patent filings and submit copies of required documents and evidences through the app.
Other patent services will be added to the program in the future, Zheng said.
Currently, users of smartphones driven by Android and IOS systems can install the app and others can log onto the website for a variety of SIPO services.
The website provides "onestop" services ranging from filings to processing applications and granting patents. It enables users to make inquiries, search patent data, ask for consultations and file complaints, Zheng said.
Another online platform launched on the same day is the CPRS Plus, which is an updated version of the first Chinese patent search system CPRS and designed for international users.
As China has ranked top of the world in patent filings for five consecutive years, its expanded invention data stockpile carries a growing weight with researchers and scientists.
The CPRS Plus, a multi-language information platform, provides access to tap into the data reservoir.
In addition, the Public Patent Platform of Agency Services officially went online, where patent agencies provide consultation and other services.
Xu Yuanyuan, secretary-general of the All-China Patent Attorneys Association, said the portal is highlighted by special designs for overseas aid, which are expected to help Chinese companies learn more about legal environments and industry developments abroad.
She called on the association member firms to offer free services to startups that meet given requirements on the website.
The new online services were announced during the SIPO Open House event, as it opened its door to representatives of high-tech startups, colleges and primary schools in Beijing on World IP Day, which fell on April 26.
SIPO Commissioner Shen Changyu said during the event that his team will continue to focus on IP protection and use, foster IP professionals in universities and promote education in primary schools.
