To maintain the efforts against infringement of intellectual property rights (IPR) and counterfeiting, a permanent leading agency constituted by 29 member departments has been established in China, which is chaired by Vice Premier Wang Qishan and based in the Ministry of Commerce (Mofcom), said Mofcom Minister Chen Deming at a press conference on March 7, when he answered questions raised by journalists from home and abroad regarding consumption enhancement and foreign trade development.

As Chen pointed out, the daily task of the agency in Mofcom is to report to Vice Premier Wang Qishan and all the 29 members the priorities being addressed and the landscape of enforcement activities. "The highlights in the first quarter this year are to investigate agricultural and building materials and auto parts, conduct patent examination to combat IPR infringements related to pre-installed software, online shopping and trade fairs and to take special actions towards key commercials in agricultural market," he said.
