As was reported by China Economic Net on August 13th, patent applications in the economic development zone in Beijing continue to gain momentum. In the first half of 2012, the zone saw its patent applications and grants hit 1,016 and 847, up 21.24% and 43.31%. Among them, applications filed by enterprises accounted for over 90% and the commercialization rate of issued patents reached up to 90%. Local officials attributed the increment to monetary support and IPR dissemination by government agencies in recent years and envisioned an upward trend in this regard.
