Customs confiscated nearly 2,000 infringement cases in first three quarters

In the first three quarters, customs throughout the country confiscated 1,914 infringement cases, involving a value of 230 million yuan (US$31.05 million).
To handle the rapid increase of supervision business amount, customs across the country renewed law enforcement concept and introduced advanced supervision technologies of modern customs, such as risk analysis, etc. into IP protection work, which has effectively improve the rate of investigating infringing goods. Therefore, 90% of import and export infringement cases were discovered by customs with initiative.
In the meantime, in order to configure law enforcement resources and enhance law enforcement efficiency, the General Administration of Customs carried out a series of special campaigns against import and export infringement activities in key areas, key channels and key flight courses, effectively restraining import and export of infringement goods.
Customs protection on IP is an indispensable part of the national IP protection system; hence, only by strengthening cooperation with related domestic governmental departments could law enforcement be able to gain favorable results.
At present, the GAC has established fine cooperation mechanism with the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, the State Intellectual Property Office, the Ministry of Public Security, etc. to collaborate with each other on case handling, recognition of infringing goods, law enforcement information share, law enforcers training and communication on major related issues.
