Recently, the Director of Chongqing Research Center on Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) Ren Duanming pointed out, Chongqing decided to recommend Chongqing snack for Folk Snack in the list of national ICHs, if Shanghai's Nanxiang Baozi was successfully selected as national ICH.

It is said that, besides having been listed in the provincial or municipal list of ICHs, the declaration conditions for the second batch of national ICHs include having prominent historical, cultural and science values, representing cultural creation of the Chinese nation, and having the characteristics of inheriting in certain groups for several generations and existing in the form of live state.

In addition, Folk Snack has not yet been included in the category of national ICHs, so it is difficult for Chongqing snack to declare as national ICH in the year 2008. [Chinese version is available on Times and Truth News]
