Biological Technology Research Center launches research on Chinese biological technology and industrial innovation capability

On 12 June 2008, Biological Technology Research Center of MOST, jointly sponsored by well-known domestic higher educational institutions, enterprises and scientific research institutes, launched the strategic research on Chinese biological technology and industrial innovation capability.

The strategic research will carry out a systematic, comprehensive and scientific analysis on the advantages of China's biotechnology and on the gap between China and the developed countries, and predict the development trend of modern biotechnology. And goals of different development stages, key technological problems, orientation of future development and the approaches for realizing the goals will be identified. To make preparations for the Twelfth Five-year Plan the strategic research will provide scientific basis and suggestions for China's decision-making on the development strategy of biotechnology.
