To successfully hold Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and raise the awareness of copyright protection during the development of Olympics-driven economy, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Copyright and the Legal Affairs Department of Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) are going to co-sponsor a Forum on Olympic Copyright Protection in Beijing International Hotel on January 16, 2008.

As a maiden activity in the Olympic Year, the forum will combine lectures and board display for Olympic products in order to promote the co-development of Olympics-driven economy and copyright protection, and provide an exchange and display platform for relevant organs and enterprises in culture industry.

On the forum, leaders and experts from National Copyright Administration, Beijing Municipal Bureau of Copyright, BOCOG, Copyright Sector of the Editorial Department of CCTV, etc. will analyze and discuss such topics as Olympic copyright protection and market operation, legal basis of Olympic copyright protection, copyright protection of video rebroadcast for the Olympics, etc.; experts from Copyright Committee of Korea will introduce their experience about copyright protection drawn from Seoul 1988 Olympic Games; representatives from enterprises which operate Olympic products will deeply discuss copyright protection and the operation of Olympic copyright products.

The forum will push the two factors – Olympic copyright protection and the publicity of Olympic intellectual property to play a more significant role in the economic development driven by Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. [Chinese version is available on SIPO.gov.cn]
