Recently the Wuzhong Branch of Suzhou Administration for Industry and Commerce received complaint from Japanese Bridgestone Corporation, claiming that a local tyre company infringed its trademark. Under the mediation by the AIC, the infringer promised to stop using the infringing trademark.

Bridgestone Corporation registered the trademark "普利司通" and its device in China. The infringer, Suzhou Puli Sitong Tyre Co. Ltd., was once a partner of Japanese Bridgestone Corporation. In June 2006, after the Sales Agency Agreement between the two companies expired, Suzhou Puli Sitong continued using the trademark representation of "普利司通" and its device in advertising. Therefore, Bridgestone Corporation complained about the case to the local AIC.

Under the mediation by the local AIC, Suzhou Puli Sitong agreed to immediately stop using the trade name and trademark which included the Chinese characters "普利司通" and to cancel its trade name within a few days.
