On June 26, the Choucheng Branch of the Yiwu Administration for Industry and Commerce received testing reports from several companies, like Platinum Unilever (China) Ltd., Procter & Gamble (China) Ltd. and Johnson&Johnson (China) Ltd., which confirmed that the cosmetics seized by the AIC were counterfeit goods.
On May 25, a complaint to the Choucheng AIC indicated that counterfeit cosmetics were stored in a storehouse of Xuefeng Logistics Center. Then the officials from the AIC examined the storehouse and seized 454,440 bottles of cosmetics, involving several famous brands like Olay and L'oréal.
Investigations showed that the counterfeit goods belonged to an Indian who came to Yiwu in August 2006. He purchased the counterfeit cosmetics from Guangzhou and was going to load the goods for export.
The officials sent samples of the cosmetics to the rightholders. The testing reports provided by the rightholders indicated that the cosmetics were counterfeit goods. Therefore, the AIC made a decision of administrative punishment against the Indian.
