In a bid to enhance the market competitiveness by making full use of intellectual properties, Anshan Iron and Steel Group Corporation (ANSTEEL) launched a new patent strategy focusing on both the quality and quantity of patent applications, and the layout of its patents, according to information from the company’s science and technology development sector.
The new strategy states that by 2015, the number of invention patents in force held by the group should rank from the top among its peers in the industry; more patent filings on iron and vanadium used in motor manufacturing industry should be submitted; patents from other industries other than iron should account for over 15% of the total patents owned by the group. By 2020, the number of invention patent applications should rank from the top among state-own enterprises; the number of invention patent grants and patents in force should lead the way in its industry; patents from other industries other than iron should account for over 20% of the total patents owned by the group.
In order to ensure the completion of the designated tasks, the group will take measures on promoting intellectual property creation, optimizing performance evaluation systems and management procedures, and cultivating more talents. It will also adjust its patent layout by increasing the proportion of invention patents, patents on non-iron industries and patents filed by research institutes.
