Supreme People’s Court established more pharmaceutical IPR bases

To reinforce IPR judicial protection in pharmaceutical industry in China and enhance professional guidance and research work for the trials of this type of cases, the Supreme People’s Court determined to establish research bases for pharmaceutical IPR judicial protection in Taizhou Municipal Intermediate People’s Court and Lianyungang Municipal Intermediate People’s Court of Jiangsu Province, learnt from the Supreme People’s Court on April 23.

The Supreme People’s Court expected that the two research bases can timely penetrate the latest trends of IPR protection in pharmaceutical industry, conduct special research work on the need of IPR protection and relevant legal issues and make due contribution to the trial quality of IP-related cases, decision-making level of the judicial policies and gradually meet the new requirements of IPR judicial protection in pharmaceutical industry.

Besides, more courts were simultaneously determined as IPR trial grassroots demonstration courts including the People’s Court of Haidian District of Beijing, the People’s Court of Huangpu District of Shanghai, the People’s Court of Tianhe District of Guangzhou, the People’s Court of Gulou District of Nanjing and the People’s Court of Xihu District of Hangzhou. Huazhong University of Science and Technology was determined as theoretical research base for IPR judicial protection and Nanjing Municipal Intermediate People’s Court of Jiangsu Province and Wuhan Municipal Intermediate People’s Court of Hubei Province were determined as survey bases for IPR judicial protection.
