WIPO holds PCT international conference in Beijing

On December 3, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and China's State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) jointly held the International Conference on Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) in Beijing.
Deputy Director-General of WIPO Mr. Francis Gurry and SIPO Director Tian Lipu, and representatives from Mongolia, North Korea, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Bahrain, Tunisia, Tanzania, Cameroon and Mozambique attended the conference.
The participants conducted in-depth discussions on the status quo and future development of "Patent Cooperation Treaty", corporate experience in PCT application and other issues.
As the most direct user of the PCT system, enterprise is the driving force for the development of the PCT system. Therefore, this conference set a number of topics most concerned by enterprises, such as how to better satisfy applicants' needs, corporate experience in applying PCT system for development, etc..
This conference reviewed the development of PCT system in the past 30 years, especially the vigorous development in China in recent years, and looked forward to its bright prospects. It provided an open platform for representatives from various countries to communicate and exchange, offered chances for corporate users to participate in the discussions, and would have positive impact on the healthy and harmonious development of the PCT international patent application system.
