A Zhejiang-based electric company has been making history.

After three-year patent battle against US electric company Leviton, General Protecht Group Inc. has finally ended this long-lasting dispute with complete success, which is the first favorable judgment for China's company in the past IPR infringement cases.

In the 28-page judgment, the court held that the alleged GFCI products manufactured by General Protecht Group Inc. didn't infringe on the No. 6246558 patent right of Leviton.

In April 2004, Leviton, a major US manufacturer of GFCI, filed several patent infringement lawsuits against General Protecht's clients in the US, claiming its GFCI products violated patent right of the former.

In early June of 2006, General Protecht received an order from a US court that accepted the claims of General Protecht that its products were beyond the scope of Leviton's patent.

The success of General Protecht in this patent lawsuit will sweep away the blocks in its way to the US market and this company will maintain fast development in the future. [Chinese version is available on Zhejiang Daily]
