2015 China IP Publicity Week launches

On April 20, the 2015 China IP Publicity Week was launched throughout the country. “Build China into an IP power to support innovation-driven development is the theme of the event this year. IPR is an important resource of development and core element of competitiveness.” Said SIPO Commissioner Shen Changyu. He said that in bid to support innovation-driven development, China will step up implementation of action plan of national IP strategy, make efforts to build China into an IP power and inspire innovation enthusiasm of the whole society. 

“In the past 30 years’ course, China’s journey in relation to intellectual property has been quite extraordinary. It now ranks as the largest intellectual property producer, really, in the world. The creative output of China echoes without saying is something extraordinarily rich and extraordinarily diverse.”WIPO director general Francis Gurry said in his video speech to China. 

“To protect IPR is to protect innovation, innovation passion of the whole society will be inspired by making full use of IPR.” Said SIPO Deputy Commissioner Liao Tao at the launch event. According to Liao, the IP-related administrations will launch some 70 activities in this week. A symposium on improving China’s IP law system was held by SIPO, China’s Judicial Protection on IP in 2014 was issued by the Supreme People’s Court. The Development of China’s New Plant Variety in 2014 was issued by the State Forestry Administration. In the coming next week, SIPO will release an IP satisfaction report in 2014, and host the Open to Public Day as well. In parallel, the yearbook of China’s Judicial Protection on IP (2014) will be issued by SPC. 

Some colorful IP publicity activities will also be carried out by local governments in this week. Beijing’s IP Protection in 2014 will be issued by Beijing Government, the IP Theme Day will be established by Shanghai Government. The Guangdong IP Trading Center will be launched.
