The Intellectual Property Development and Research Center under the State Intellectual Property Office recently released the ranking of national and regional patent comprehensive strength of 2011. Guangdong, Beijing and Jiangsu rank top three.
The ranking incorporates such elements as patent comprehensive strength as well as patent creation, utilization, protection, administration and service. In terms of creation, Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong rank top three; in terms of utilization, Guangdong, Beijing and Jiangsu are the first three; in terms of protection, Guangdong, Hunan and Jiangsu stand out among other areas; in terms of administration, Jiangsu, Guangdong and Beijing stand out; in terms of service, Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong are listed as top three.
Director of the Intellectual Property Development and Research Center Mao Jinsheng said the ranking reflected patent development condition in each area and would provide strong support for scientific development of patent work. It is the first time to release the ranking. From now on, the ranking will be annually published in the national IPR Publicity Week. [Chinese version is available on sipo.gov.cn]
