Wen vows to create a fairer environment by strengthening IPR protection

 China will continue to improve relevant laws and policies and reinforce the protection of intellectual property rights (IPR) to provide a fair, transparent, stable and expectable environment for enterprises home and abroad, said Premier Wen Jiabao when delivering a speech at the opening ceremony of Hanover MESSE on April 22. 

Since the reform and opening up, China has commanded global attention with its great achievements in industrialization, said Wen. The country has been sticking to market-oriented reforms and opening up, while also persisting in technology innovation, industrialization, urbanization and agricultural modernization. By closely following economic and technical trend of the world, China has developed a bunch of proprietary key technologies through indigenous innovation and has significantly narrowed the gap between developed countries. In 2011, it became the world's top 3 in terms of granted invention patents, while its domestic technology trading market also reached 47.6 billion yuan at the same time.

As Wen pointed out, though the worldwide financial crisis fiercely struck global industries, it indeed brought some new opportunities. It is a global mission to get rid of the negative impact and make a quick recovery. In this context, Wen proposed that we should vigorously invest in real economy so as to consolidate the basis for stable development and should greatly enhance technology innovation, which is a strong impulse to economic recovery. He also urged to promote opening up and cooperation by opposing all kinds of formalism and improving global governance.

In the end, Wen said, China's industrialization will maintain its fast development in quite a long period of time and the opportunities this brings will be shared by enterprises both from home and abroad. "I hereby reaffirm that China's fundamental state policy of opening up will never change. We will continue to improve relevant laws and policies, expand market access, reinforce IPR protection and ensure fair play among all enterprises registered in China on occasion of proprietary products identification government procurement, among others, so as to provide an impartial, transparent, stable and expectable environment for all the companies," he said.
