Beijing: nearly 4,000 IPR cases judged in 2007

On May 13, Beijing Municipal People's Congress listened to the report by Vice President of Beijing Municipal Higher People's Court on the IPR trial work.

Last year, nearly 4,000 IPR cases were handled by courts at all levels. Beijing has eight IPR tribunals and 63 IPR judges and roughly each IPR judge settles 60 cases annually.

It is reported that from 2003 to 2007, Beijing courts handled a total of 8,785 IPR civil cases of first instance, and the number grows year by year. The amounts for administrative cases and criminal cases also increase.
