Innovation China UK starts in Britain

On November 20, Fu Ying, China's Ambassador to the United Kingdom, participated in opening ceremony of the China-UK scientific and technological innovation project- Innovation China UK (ICUK)

In her speech, Fu Ying spoke highly of the ICUK project in the cooperation between the two countries, congratulated the opening of the project, and hoped that the project would support the industrialization of innovative achievements in the two countries.

Fu Ying said that the Sino-British cooperation in science, technology and innovation have got a good foundation. In recent years, the two countries have established the intergovernmental technology joint committee, dialogue mechanism on sustainable development and climate change, etc, and signed cooperation agreements for space technology, scientific research informatization, Internet technology, R&D of new energy sources and other fields.

The ICUK project aims to support the innovative researches with commercialization prospects. The project will last for a period of two years and the Chinese and British governments will give corresponding financial support. Five British universities and more than 20 Chinese colleges, universities and research institutions will participate in the project. [Chinese version is available on Fmprc.gov.cn]
