On October 26 and 27, the Fifth Shanghai International IP Forum, co-hosted by Shanghai Intellectual Property Office, the Law School of Tongji University, Munich Intellectual Property Law Center of Germany and the Law School of Stanford University of the U.S. was held in Shanghai.
The Forum took the influences of WTO's Agreement on the Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights on the economic development of Asian countries as the theme.
Commissioner of China's State Intellectual Property Office Tian Lipu, Vice Commissioner Li Yuguang, Vice Mayor of Shanghai Municipal People's Government Yang Dinghua, Deputy Secretary-general Li Yiping, Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Jon Dudas, President of the German Patent and Trademark Office Jürgen Schade, Director of Shanghai Intellectual Property Office Chen Zhixing and representatives from China's Ministry of Commerce, the World Intellectual Property Organization, the World Trade Organization, the European Union, the Consulate General of related countries in Shanghai as well as leaders of Intellectual Property Office of some provinces and municipalities of China attended the Forum.
At the Forum, over 30 experts from China, Germany, the U.S., Japan, Australia, India, Singapore, Vietnam, Philippines, Taiwan Region, the WIPO, the WTO and the EU respectively elaborated on the influences, enlightenment and challenges, brought about by the TRIPS to the IP system development and social and economic development of China, Korea, ASEAN countries, Taiwan Region, Singapore and Hong Kong SAR, and put forward their opinions and advices on strengthening international cooperation in patent field, intensifying regional IP basic system integration.
At the closing of the Forum, the sponsors jointly announced the Consensus of the Fifth Shanghai International IP Forum. [Chinese version is available on SIPO.gov.cn]
